Meeting Agendas

Parents have the right to: 

1. Ask for their own meetings and trainings
2. Review the results of an annual parent involvement effectiveness survey
3. Review the school’s achievement data to determine if Title I services are effective in meeting the goals for student proficiency in state standards
4. Review the parent involvement plan in the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)
5. Review and modify the site Title I Parent Engagement Policy with an Integrated Home/School Compact 
    

The School Site Council (SSC) provides parents with the opportunity to be involved in the academic program of the school.  The SSC develops, monitors, and evaluates the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA); implement programs and services that support students. 

Schools analyze and review schoolwide performance data, the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) ELA and Math results, the English Language Professional Assessment for California (ELPAC), graduation rates, College and Career Readiness rates, Chronic Absenteeism rates, and Suspension rates.  They use the data to align the curriculum to state and district academic standards and adjust their instructional practices based on the findings of the assessment data.

Parents should receive information about the school’s curriculum, specifically the English/Language Arts and Math programs, and the assessments used to measure student progress in those programs.

Schools are allocated Title I funds based upon the percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.  Schools in the Palm Springs Unified School District receive Title I funds if 40 percent (40%) or more of the student population is eligible for the free or reduced-price lunch program.  Schools in the Palm Springs Unified School District are ranked according to this percentage and receive a certain amount of Title I money per student.

Title I funds must supplement, not supplant, district funding. 

• $54,970 ($1,061 for parent trainings)
• Actions: Behavior Intervention Assistant, Professional Development around Instructional Strategies and Collaboration, and Parent Training Classes. 

The Title I Parent Engagement Policy communicates how the school will involve parents in an organized, ongoing, and timely way in the planning, review, and improvement of the Title I program at the school.  This document includes the Title I Home/School Compact, which describes the responsibilities of the school, the parent, and the student for improved student achievement.

• The current Title I Parent Engagement Policy and Home/School Compact will be reviewed and revised by the Elected 26/27 SSC Members, English Learner Advisory Council, and the RMES Instructional Leadership Team. 
• The Title I Parent Engagement Policy and Home/School Compact is reviewed annually by the School Site Council, English Learner Advisory Committee, and RMES Instructional Leadership Team. 
• Upon completion it will be posted in ParentSquare and the RMES Website. 
• There will be a Google Form that will allow parents to provide feedback and recommended revisions to the current Home/School Compact and Title I Parent Engagement Policy each year. This feedback will be reviewed by the School Site Council before final approval.
